increase your chances of being published

We get so many great editorial submissions for Xquisit each issue. We also get submissions that had potential, but missed a few really important points in the series. Here is a list of a few things you can do to increase your chances of getting published in Xquisit:

» Make sure that your story is cohesive. There should be something visual that connects all of the images together.

» Choose an agency represented model who’s look really fits within the concept of your editorial. We recently received a story that was youthful, well photographed, but unfortunately featured a model that looked far too old to be in that setting. Choose wisely. If you are a photographer, prepare your vision for the posing just in case the model isn’t the most creative with his/her poses. Good directing is key.

» Do not submit work that was created for a lookbook or brand campaign. We are looking for editorial stories (photographic narratives)!

» Make sure that you take care of the details during the shoot or in post-production. We don’t like to see wrinkled clothing or hundreds of flyaways.

» We need to see at least 3 different wardrobe looks to publish an editorial in Xquisit.

»Follow the theme of each issue! If the work you are submitting clearly does not fit within our theme, please do not submit it (unless you are looking to have a webitorial published). Also, don’t submit a summer editorial for our winter issue, or vice versa.

» Don’t publish any of the images on any personal websites (for any member of the creative team). If we see the series online or in another magazine, we will remove the editorial from our publication before it is released.

» Make sure you have a full creative team. This is not required, but will definitely increase your chances in getting published, as you can’t beat having a professional hair stylist and makeup artist working on your editorial.

Hope this helps and happy shooting!
